A project exploring themes of home, which culminated in an installation, which includes the short film ‘A resting place’.

The film combines and overlays video and audio I recorded of routes I travelled over and over around my old home in Hove and my new-old home in Walthamstow. These sights and sounds are snapshots of moments and spaces significant to me because of memories I built there – both intensely painful and euphoric. The film builds and falls in intensity, and the thread running throughout is a recording of me reading my poem ‘Relief’.

The video is projected onto two layers of organza, suspended by clear thread. The projector, organza layers, and back wall are positioned at roughly equidistant half metre intervals. The viewer can move around to view the projection from any angle and experience the changing colour, size, and degree of overlay of the projected video on the progressive layers.
