Not genderless, or gender neutral, but genderfull. As non binary, I hold masculinity and femininity together at their maximum, intertwined and in new creations. My shadow dances with it. My gender is not my body.

This work is part of a photographic series ‘Genderfull’. With shadows I play with what is visible or occluded, the versions of ourselves that we present externally or protect within. As a trans person who is gender non conforming, there is a multiplicity in how I exist as my gender versus how I am perceived. A femme pose can create a masculine shadow. If the shadow is all that’s perceived does that erase my femininity? There is a conversation between body and perception of our bodies by others, and how we hold onto our authenticity in safety when confronted by those who would be violent towards us because of it.
